3/15/05 Meeting Minutes
Location: Baker High School / Room 2405
Attendees: Cindy Fryer, Jackie Caselle, Mike Caselle, Julie Crowell, Joy Aukema, Kim Candee, Joanne O’Connor, Linda Gribble, Jacki Hess, Tina Solomon, Mike Sharpe, Sally Sharpe, Martha Passamonte, Ellen Stevens, Renee McKee
Items discussed:
1) Treasury Report—Kim Candee advised that the account has been reconciled. We currently have $8615.69 in the account.
2) Bottle Drive 3/5/05—Julie advised that the Booster Club earned $504.45. 33 girls participated. Julie also brought a suggestion from Carrie Sayler that for future bottle drives, we divide the girls into teams and provide incentives at the end of the drive.
3) Yearbook—Renee is waiting for pictures. The yearbook should be distributed to the Varsity players either this week or next.
4) Ice Cream Social—will be held on 6/14/05 at 6:30 PM in the Baker cafeteria. Jackie Caselle, Marcia Lamirande and Shelley Clark will chair this event.
5) Camps—Brochures are done. Summer Camp will be held August 1-5, currently scheduled to be held at Durgee. Hours will be 8:30-11:30. T-shirts will be given. Brochures will be distributed either this week or next. The Youth League for players in grades 3-6 will be held every Thursday in July from 5:30-6:30. The location at this time is the pit, may possibly make field changes. Last year a ball and backpack were provided at a cost of $6.00. A lanyard and mouth guard can be added for an additional $2. The proceeds of this camp go to the Booster Club. An ad will be placed in the paper. Reservations for the camps will be sent to Kim Candee. Tina donated a week of Summer Camp and a Youth League membership to “A Taste of Baldwinsville”.
6) Modified Team Jackets—Cost at Nami’s would be $48 plus tax each. Jacket has a sweatshirt lining and embroidery is included. At least $35 jackets would be needed. Renee will check with Larry Collins at Scholastic Sports. She mentioned a windbreaker type of jacket with 2 colors on the back and embroidery on the front. This would help the Modified players feel and look like a team.
7) Possible Fundraiser—Julie Crowell brought information for fundraising at Uno’s. We could hold a fundraiser at Uno’s on any night Monday through Thursday between the hours of 5-8 PM. The customer would need to provide a coupon in order for the Field Hockey Team to receive credit. For sales of $1000 or more, we would receive 20% of the sales, under $1000, we would receive $15%.
8) Clothing Sales—We’re planning on another clothing sale for the upcoming season, with a new logo and Stephanie Pelcher as the chairperson.
9) Bloomsburg Camp—to date, 27 girls have signed up to attend. This year, the Booster Club will not provide money to those girls attending to help defray the cost of the camp. Last year, a specific fundraiser was held to earn money towards camp. It’s too late to do that this year. We’ll have to consider designating a fundraiser next year to earn money for camp and set up individual accounts for each player.
10) National rule change—Clear or white mouth guards will no longer be allowed, they will need to be colored so that they can be seen. Ellen Stevens questioned the use of goggles—nothing has been determined on that issue.
11) JUGS machine—Tina advised the cost would be $1250. It could be used at all levels and would be helpful for goalkeeping and videos for college purposes. Kim Candee made a motion to purchase the JUGS machine, seconded by Cindy Fryer. A vote was taken and it was unanimous that the JUGS machine be purchased by the Booster Club.
12) Tina is looking in to the possibility of an overnight fall tournament for the Varsity and possibly Junior Varsity players.
13) Photographer Ken Dwyer—suggested by Renee. He can provide a team photo and an individual action shot for Varsity players for a cost of $7.50. The JV and Modified teams would receive a team photo and an individual posed picture. We’ll need to check with him about making up the laminated cards with the players and game schedule similar to what we had last season. We will try to have him attend our next meeting to shows us samples of his work.
14) Linda, Joy and Tina will be attending a coaching clinic in Utica on 3/18/05. The cost for each to attend is $75. The Athletic Director is providing a total of $100 for the 3 coaches to attend. The vote from the Booster Club members attending the meeting was unanimous to provide the additional $125 from the Booster Club.
15) Next meeting—either 5/9/05 or 5/16/05, 6:30 PM, Baker HS Room 2405.
