Baldwinsville Field Hockey Booster Club

1/31/07 Meeting Minutes

Location: Baker High School Room 2405

Attendees:  Kathy Brissenden, Mary Varga, Mark Fryer, Cindy Fryer, Marcia Lamirande, Martha Passamonte, Jacki L. Hess, Tina L. Solomon, Patty Davaro, Shelly Clark, Ellen Lauko, Julie Crowell, Vickie Earle, Kathy Meyer, Michelle McKenna, Carrie Sayler, Mike Caselle, Jackie Caselle

Items discussed:

1)   Jones Road Indoor Sessions—Of the players that signed up, about 15 did not participate. Therefore, we are short about $700-$800 of the cost to Jones Road. A vote was taken and it was decided that the Booster Club would pay the shortage.  Maybe next year we can have the Booster Club pay some of the cost.  The Modified session was 1 hr. 15 mins., the JV/Varsity session was 1 hr. 30 mins. 40 players participated, split evenly between the 2 sessions.  There is a noticeable improvement in the Modified players.

2)   Ireland High School Team—Tina received an E-mail from her contacts at William Smith College.  A high school field hockey team from Ireland will be visiting the first weekend in June.  They would like the Varsity team to possibly play some games with the visiting team, maybe at Cornell or William Smith.

3)   Camps—At this time, camp is scheduled for the 1st full week in August—August 6-10.  The Youth League will be held on Wednesdays—the last 3 weeks in July and the 1st week in August. Tina is checking in field availability.  A session of each is being donated to “A Taste of Baldwinsville”. Tina will be meeting with the players in the next month regarding away summer camps.

4)    Scholarships—Several options were discussed and after a vote, it was determined that the Booster Club will present a $250 scholarship to the Senior with the highest GPA who will be going on to play field hockey in college and a $250 scholarship to the Senior with the highest GPA who will not be playing field hockey in college.  The scholarship will be presented during Moving Up day in May.

5)   2007-2008 Officers—Marcia Lamirande will serve as President, Mary Varga and Kathy Brissenden as co-Vice Presidents and Cindy Fryer as Secretary.  Tina has recruited, Noelle Penafeather, who is not in the program to serve as Treasurer. Noelle is the wife of baseball coach, Dave Penafeather, and she is aware of the in and outs of what a sports team needs are. Some things are consistent, such as water bottles and Senior gifts. Noelle can continue to act as treasurer without having to train someone every few years.

6)   Clothing—Vickie Earle volunteered to take over the clothing sales.  It was suggested that we offer Under Armour through our clothing sales.  Larry Collins is the contact person that we deal with.

7)   Website—Kathy Meyer volunteered to work on the website.

8)   Future Stadium—Jeanne Dangle and Bruce Quimby will attend a Field Hockey Booster Club Meeting to present the plans for the future athletic stadium.

9)   Next Meeting—3/28/07, 6:30 PM, Baker High School Room 2405
